Seema had an intense liking for music since childhood and started taking lessons at age 11 from her first Guru Mrs .Pratima Purekar in Nagpur and finished her lessons until Upantya Visharad from her .

She always won prizes in many interschool singing competition that she took part in and was well known in her school and college for her singing.

When she started her medical career, due to lack of enough time she focused mainly on light and semiclassical form of music.  She was highly popular in medical college in the college orchestra which performed at various   occasions in Nagpur and surrounding area.

  After finishing her MBBS and DGO degree she started devoting more time to focus on   classical music back again.

  Dr.Alka Deo Marulkar accepted her as a disciple which was a turning point in Seema's life.   Alakatai, as Seema calls her, reignited the musical passion for classical music inside her and   brought out the best within.

  Dr. Alka Deo Marulkar , who is a legend herself, learned the nuances of Jaipur and Gwaliar   Gharana , from her great Gurus like Pt. Rajabhau Dev(her father) and Pt. Madhusudan   Kanetkar. Dr. Marulkar also excels in light classical music like Thumari, Dadra, Chaiti, with   extensive work in classical music. She has an exceptional knack of teaching and has taught   many budding artists in India . Presently, she works as Director of The Goa Kala Academy.

  Seema continued her Riyaz through many a difficult times such as her medical residency and   has balanced her duties well.

  Some of Seema's notable performances include multiple concerts in Nagpur , Akola , Amraoti,   Pune, Goa in India and in Houston , Dallas , Detroit , New Orleans and Los Angeles . Seema's   performance in acclaimed forums such as the BMM (Brihan Maharashtra Mandal) in Atlanta and   Seattle were also highly appreciated.

  Because of her wide range of melodious voice, mastery on various “taan” patterns, Seema is   able to convey the deep feelings embedded in the Raagas. She is able to bring up and convey   the personality of the Raaga to the audience. Seema is currently pursuing rigorous training and   Riyaz in classical as well as light classical music like Thumri and Dadra. Seema has given many   performances in classical, light classical and light music .

  Seema believes that with constant hard work and perseverance along with her unique talent,   she is be able to make a difference and delight the audience.
